It’s kind of like a hype playlist, but instead of hyping you up, it forces you to get out of bed and fucking deal with it. They don’t have to be happy songs; they can be the most depressing songs you’ve ever heard. All that really matters is how they can help you.

I’ve just recently gotten into Amy’s videos, but she does some seriously amazing things. It’s become a habit of mine to go to her channel when I’m upset. This is one of my favourite ideas she’s come up with.

I have quite a few things on my ‘Fuck It List’, including things like issues with school friends and other petty things that don’t really need to be on my mind, especially on the Christmas holidays. I strongly recommend making one of these.

I’ve been having a particularly stressful and tiresome week, so bear with me. Okay, so throughout the week, I’ve basically had a routine to cheer myself up for when it got especially bad, so I’ll go over that. I made a sort of in-my-head list of things to do and if one thing didn’t work, I’d move onto the next one. Here it is.

Listen to Cake (The band of course. Comfort food is a slippery slope, my friends.), particularly ‘Italian Leather Sofa’ and their cover of ‘I Will Survive’. This one’s good for when you’re in public, unless you plan to sing along to it. I’m not here to judge.
Read a book. My personal favourite for the purposes of cheerification is Paper Towns by John Green. I leant the book out to most of my classmates, so I could quote it with them. It’s the anti buzz-kill.
‘Harry Potter and the Jealous Husband’. It ships Harry and Voldemort. Enough said.
Seek the company of a friend. Now, I don’t usually like to see anyone when I’m upset, but desperate times call for desperate measures and the right person can almost always cheer you up.
Lastly, go for a walk. I had to resort to this, this afternoon when I had printer troubles with my home ec assignment. I haven’t been for a voluntary walk in two years and I deeply regret that. I was on the verge of tears when I left, but after a few minutes, I was fine. I have a reputation of laziness to uphold, so mum’s the word.

I hope this was of help to someone. I just realised I forgot to put on sunscreen. Drat!

Cosplay

This is me (as Amy Pond) at Supanova in April. It was awesome. It is such a great hobby to have, especially when you need a good distraction. It took me hours of forum searching to find that hoodie, but I did and it was so worth it. I walked around with Jocelyn (who was dressed as Donna) and people asked us for photos, etc. Kind of a really amazing weekend.

I've fallen in love with this. All of these things make me happy as well.

If you play an instrument that you actually enjoy and weren’t forced to play for your school band, I highly recommend using said instrument as cheerification. It’s not necessarily instant, but it eventually gets the job done. It helps me to play a more difficult song or at least one that I find challenging, mostly because I’m focussing on the tabs and not on the reason I’m not feeling excellent.

I play ukulele, which is a chipper instrument in the first place. Everyone should play ukulele. It’s easy and makes almost everything sound interesting. I personally endorse Charlie McDonnell covers, just because they’re adorable.
